APG Fall Conference 2026

The theme of this year’s APG Fall Conference is From Policy To Practice: What's Next For Accountable Care?

Physician groups now face mounting cost and utilization pressures and significant policy shifts that will help to shape the future of care delivery. In this changing environment, the need for accountable care has never been greater—but successfully translating policy into sustainable, high-quality practice requires innovation, resilience, and collaboration.

APG's Fall Conference 2026 will explore the strategies, policies, and innovations that will define the next iterations of accountable care. Attendees will gain practical insights into the outlook for federal health care policy from key past and present government leaders; learn how to navigate ongoing payment and regulatory changes; discuss opportunities for employing new technologies and other approaches to revamping care delivery; and compare notes about other opportunities to advance high-value, coordinated, patient-centered care.

The Midterm Checkup: Post-Election Prospects for Federal Health Policy

Two years ago, following the 2024 elections, this expert team of two former Health and Human Services secretaries analyzed the outlook for federal health policy under the second Trump administration and Republican-led Congress.  This year, just two weeks after the November 3 midterm elections, they will be back to tell us what just happened and what may lie ahead.   They will discuss how the executive branch, Congress, and the courts may now confront major current and looming issues, including health care affordability, declining insurance coverage, rising costs and utilization, and more.  They will also examine how health care issues played in the elections, and whether movements ranging from MAHA to Medicare For All are gaining or losing traction with voters and what these attitudes portend.

Speakers:

  • Alex Azar, 24th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (2018-2021)
  • Donna Shalala, 18th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (1993-2001); former President, University of Miami (2001-2015); Member, U.S. House of Representatives (2019-2021)
  • Moderator: Susan Dentzer, President and CEO, America’s Physician Groups
